The Beat Initiative - Tutors Required

The Beat Initiative are keen to form a brass band that could play with one of their perucssion groups. In previous years the Beat Initiative have brought over tutors who ran similar ensembles in London for the Notting Hill Carnival. They provided them with a great repertoire of relatively easy music written with various brass parts. The music ranges from Latin American dance tunes, funk and South African Jazz.

Ideally they would like a tutor who teaches brass and who can form a band from his or her students. Music will be provided (4 to 5 pieces) and are prepared to meet with the tutor.

There is a budget to enable the tutor to bring the students together for 4 rehearsals prior to the events (Lord Mayor's Parade, 27th May & The Beat Carnival, 1st July).

This is a great opportunity for a brass tutor to develop the skills of individual pupils by getting them used to ensemble playing and also allowing the pupils to experience different styles of music through the exciting medium of carnival. It will also create a unique and innovative band that will be a novelty on the streets of Belfast.
